I started playing Pokémon with the Yellow Version (or rather, that was the first one I owned), so I've been at this series since Generation I. That means I wasn't there at the start, but pretty close to it, but it means Generation II was the first generation I was there the whole way through. This DOES mean I have ways of bringing a Pokémon from my Sapphire Version to Omega Ruby, as is Diamond Version to Shining Pearl, though it's too much effort.

Opponent’s Pokémon: Venusaur, Tyranitar, Excadrill
The Pokémon who has gone through the most revisions and drastic changes of strategy is Forrest (Forretress), and it isn’t even close. What you see me do here has little i common with what Forretress does at the time I type this description, and will likely be different from the time the video goes live. One thing all these revisions have in common, though, is the fact that I cannot teach a Forretress Mirror Coat or Metal Burst, considering all the special-attacking Fire types he finds himself facing. I have an incomplete workaround at the moment, and I have since used it to fight Mega Charizard Y, but that was far from devised during this battle, and I still feel I could do better.
Instead, Victoria (Victreebel) did much of the heavy lifting in this battle, a theme that would carry through this video.

On the other hand, the scheme for Victoria (Victreebel) is much the same as when I type this description, and you can see from this match that I am satisfied with what I came up with. Certainly, I’ve been selecting this Victreebel far more often than the one I used in Pokémon Battle Revolution. Two key parts to making this work, besides the changes from Mega Evolution, are Strength Sap, allowing her to wall physical attackers; and Sucker Punch, a strong priority move on a Pokémon people don’t usually expect to have on Victreebel.
That Quick Claw turned out to be a real problem, but at the same time, it was counterbalanced by landing a critical hit when I needed it the most.

My opponent pulled out Mega Excadrill for this one. Not nearly as popular as the default Excadrill because it trades the highly valued Ability Sand Rush for Piercing Drill, which, while useful, is more situational and doesn’t counter the popular metagame picks quite as well. This allows Excadrill to hit through Protect, Detect, Spiky Shield, King’s Shield, Baneful Bunker, and the like, for 25% of its normal damage. (This has the very same effect as Unseen Fist, seen on Mega Golurk in Pokémon Champions.) Being able to outrun nearly everything in the game as long as Sandstorm is up is very nice; protection moves are seen far less in single battles, and without boosted Speed, many Pokémon outrun it (including some of the ones on this team).
Of course, without a way to set up Sandstorm, you might as well Mega Evolve Excadrill. That 165 Attack is no joke.
I think this was the only match I’ve seen so far with Trevenant in it.

Innards Out allows me to get the drop on opponents with a type advantage against Mega Victreebel: I try to keep Victoria’s (Victreebel’s) HP as high as possible and guide the opponent towards a high-damage knockout, which is what I did with Tinkaton here, who alternated between Swords Dance and Gigaton Hammer. (It must also be…interesting in-universe to see Mega Victreebel getting hit really hard with a hammer, Mega Victreebel being a huge pouch of acid.)
