For the record, I went to some lengths to get these Pokémon from different games—but none of them are Pokémon Champions’ Roster Ranch, as none of them actually turned up in it. Kind of like how in Generation IV, for Pokémon Battle Revolution and for Pokémon I gave as gifts to other people, I went out of my way to hatch them in unusual locations, like “Grand Lake” or “Pokémon Fan Club.” Here are where each Pokémon came from:
Poindexter (Overqwil) - Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Kane (Mr. Rime) - Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Vincenzo (Sceptile) - Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Mabel (Clefable) - Pokémon Shining Pearl
Ferdinand (Tauros, Kantonian) - Pokémon Shield
Bjorn (Lycanroc, Midday) - Pokémon Scarlet
I didn’t go as far as to import Pokémon from Bank though; perhaps I should’ve.

Opponent’s Pokémon: Zoroark (Hisuian), Whimsicott, Greninja, Hydrapple
I saw Zoroark on my opponent’s lineup, and I figure it’s likely to show up at the start (but not always; sometimes, it shows up later, or not at all), and the safest move to make, in this situation, is a move that hits both of the opposing Pokémon, like Rock Slide. Of course, seeing Icy Wind coming from Hydrapple told me what I needed to know. Also gave me intel that Hydrapple will show up later.
I also often see Greninja holding a Focus Sash; less commonly so, Greninja Mega Evolves, like in this battle. When they do though, it’s difficult to fight because it gets another type change with Protean and becomes very fast (142 Speed, equal with Dragapult) with very high Sp. Attack, though not by Mega Evolution standards (133).

Opponent’s Pokémon: Normal Guy (Zoroark) (Hisuian), Wife Guy (Gallade), Mr. Peko (Morpeko), Danger!Mice! (Maushold)
Probably unbeknownst to my opponent, they’re up against one of the few Pokémon battlers with experience using Morpeko in PvP online battling, meaning I know it has Fake Out, in turn meaning I knew how to counter their opening turn. They might also feel that I accurately sussed out their Hisuian Zoroark as “Maushold.”
The momentum turned in their favor later, however, as Gallade got a big power boost through Maushold’s Beat Up combined with Justified (ruling out Sharpness) and a subsequent Mega Evolution, giving it incredible attack power, at 165 and +3 stages. I had things a bit backwards though: I remembered Mega Gallade’s Ability as Steadfast also, rather than Inner Focus; hence, that Fake Out was for naught.
Their Maushold may be named after Danger Mouse, the protagonist of the eponymous animated TV series (and its remakes). I don’t know if the other nicknames have any references within them, but Gallade’s nickname is most certainly named after Gardevoir’s “waifu” reputation.

Hey look, it’s someone with the same hairstyle and hair color as my character.
I noticed a lot of people send out Pelipper, a risky thing to do as Overqwil might have Swift Swim (especially without the Intimidate signifier upon entering battle). Perhaps their strategy is that important that they’ll risk it, or the idea that only Water-types get Swift Swim.
Also, that Grimmsnarl has Frisk rather than Prankster. So used to Prankster Grimmsnarl was I that I was planning for him to put up Reflect rather than getting outsped and hit by Poison Jab first.

A Quick Claw on Sneasler? That’s a new one. Usually, I would see White Herb, or less frequently, a Focus Sash, to trigger Unburden. Perhaps this one has a different Ability. Also goes straight to Close Combat, so I can’t tell if they’re super-savvy and accurately predicted Quick Guard, or not savvy at all and chose Close Combat over Fake Out because that’s the stronger, super-effective move. (Also, two matches in a row where Sneasler goes straight for Close Combat without bothering for Fake Out. Fake Out is the main reason I use Quick Guard at all.)
