Not something I ever expected to beat. It was only a few days ago that I wasn't thinking about this level when I saw somebody else beat it. For whatever reason, that made me curious to try it again. I've attempted this several times over the years, usually not enjoying it at all, but I did get some old runs on this and racked up a bunch of attempts in the process. Coming back to it now, I am very surprised by how much better of an experience this level became for me. I used to hate it for how chokepointy it is, but I was able to handle it much better now. I got big runs to 100% very quickly, and after a little while, playing from 0% was fun as well. I got stumped for a while by some of the earlier parts, particularly the blue pad at 34%, but it became so much less problematic once I had a grasp of how it worked. That being said, there's still a handful of things I took issue with. I was not a fan of how awkward some of the clicks are in the first spider due to the laser hitboxes, and it felt too grindy for its own good anyway. It's very common to miss a platform at 19% that makes the start of the ship relatively unpredictable. The pink orb at 43% is insanely mean compared to the rest of the section and kills off a lot of runs from 0%. Lastly and most importantly, the pink orb at 89% is an atrocity, not only for being the hardest click in the level by far but for being overly dependent on how you time the already hard blue orb just before it. There are other balancing issues like how 56-62% is insanely difficult, but I did get used to it eventually. It really sucked to choke a fluke on this one, but I still beat it the same day at least. It is very much a flawed level, but it has grown on me dramatically, and I'm very happy to have returned to it. I always was a big fan of the level's theming. The feeling of entering the slow part from 0% never got old; it's one of the coolest sections of any extreme demon of its time, and the level itself has definitely earned the title of being my favorite formerly hardest level in the game. Ironically, I don't think I would recommend going for this as a hardest, but coming back to it with the capability of knocking it out in several days was well worth it to me.
