So here's an interesting one. This is a Nine Circles level a good friend of mine made ages ago that was just regular 1.9 NC deco for a while. Eventually, he began working on a deco update, and this was the final result. I really have to say he did a fantastic job with it; not only is it quite visually appealing but the style also changes frequently throughout the level, which for an NC level and especially a 1.9 one is exceedingly rare and gives it a lot of new life. My favorite 1.9 NC visually for sure. Glad to see it finally rated!
Unfortunately however, it's not a very enjoyable level to play. By far the greatest issue with the gameplay is the balancing; the predrop is pretty easy other than a couple of clicks (which I actually like), but then starting at 29% the level starts to become so much less playable. The 29% release timing is horrendous and even after that everything between 30-38% feels incredibly awkward and most of the time very problematic. Afterwards, there's the dual wave which sorta feels like a break but somehow also manages to feel oddly chokable at the same time and at points it really pissed me off. Once you pass the dual wave, the level becomes a brick wall again, and even worse than before. 46-47% deaths were extremely common as well as 50-51%, and then there's 55% which might be the single hardest click in the entire level, then right after that there's 56-57% which is horrifically awkward and difficult, then even after that there's still 58-63% which despite not being as tight is even more awkward than what came right before it. After 63% however, the level isn't even demon difficulty the rest of the way through. However, even though I'm glad about 64% onward being the easiest part of the level, I feel like the difficulty taking THIS much of a drop just makes this section of the level feel really out of place, and the post wave gameplay already is odd to begin with, although admittedly much of this last comment is more of a nitpick.
For what this level is meant to be, it really gave me a hard time despite not even getting unlucky. I feel so relieved that I didn't have to deal with any deaths past 56% and especially anything past 63%; I would've lost my mind if that happened. So yeah, unfortunately I wouldn't recommend trying to beat this, although I do understand that the gameplay here is really old and Paul wanted to keep everything how it was to avoid any conflict with the 1.9 Demon List when he worked on the deco update.
Also I told Paul even before he planned the deco update that I'd use Killbot if I were to beat it, so enjoy that I guess.
