Plantbased southern food at Dirty Lettuce in Portland, Oregon, is something special because it’s not something you find easily on the West Coast. We were happy to finally visit for lunch on the weekend and they have a storefront now with outdoor and indoor seating. The place was super busy and we were afraid we wouldn’t be able to get a table inside as it had started to rain. Luckily, we snagged a spot, ordered at the till, picked up our cutlery, and hungrily waited for our meals. We had the fried chicken plate that came with a choice of two sides and we got the mashed potatoes and mac and cheese and also the bbq rib basket with fries and a side of remoulade sauce. A note that they use seitan for their protein for the items we ordered and they use mushrooms for a lot of their vegan seafood dishes. There were so many dishes to choose from which is impressive for a small kitchen. We couldn’t finish our food, so we brought the leftovers back to the hotel and there’s something about cold fried chicken that might be even better than when it’s served hot! See what we thought of our meal and if we’d visit again!
