In April, 1944 the U.S. drafted a plan planned to bomb 10 Japanese’s cities with either Mustard or Phosgene gas. This plan would be implemented if Japan first used Poison gas against the U.S. The poison gas attacks would have a devastating effect on the population centers and war production.
The Japanese pondered but rejected first use in the battle for Saipan and defense of the home islands given their inability to meet the US’s Likely overwhelming response.
