Firstly, this was kind of inspired and motivated by the Horizon Devices monthly contest, with an October theme being Halloween! I've been using the H.D. Precision Drive for a ton of my work here so you all should be familiar! Naturally I thought Squid Game was a fantastic show, albeit a few flaws and oddities, and the sound design deserved a lot of recognition too! These intimidating guards and the setwork was also a huge staple in the show and I think that was all it took for me to want to do my usual parody/cover work here!
I also moved recently, so a lot of costume ideas came from figuring out what was available around here! I ended up using tracking for the mask (since my order of a real mask was way too slow) so I'm wearing a beanie over my face with track markers.. it was weird yes. I also learned to make the Dalgona sweet and had a blast recreating some of the title sequences. As far as music and riffs, I really just thought of something "simple" but repetitive to complement those choral cries going back and forth. The 8 string lent itself well to that gritty, almost percussive approach and I tried creating a small progression for a better-defined B section! The result is a mix I'm largely happy with, but also just such a fun tribute to this track and show.
