I spent the morning at Fish Haul Beach on Hilton Head Island photographing shorebirds with the Nikon Z9 and Nikon Z 400mm f/4.5 lens. I chose this combination due to its quality and speed combined with lightweight portability. You can easily crawl around the beach and sneak up on shorebirds with this setup while also being ready to shoot in lower light situations as well as capture action if needed. I share a lot about an approach to shorebird photography and how to make the best of a shorebird outing. Watch me photograph Sanderling, Semipalmated Plover, Black-bellied Plover, Ruddy Turnstone, mixed gulls and even a surprise visit by a Bald Eagle on the beach!
