In this part, Athena uses the mood matrix on Rimes' testimony. He has so much anger and sadness, it's clear that he's mixing up the current death with the one from last year. Rimes is forced to admit that he is Azura's secret boyfriend, and as such, he harbors a big grudge against the orca.
Rimes transforms into a larger, bulkier person. He has no motive for killing the victim, so Phoenix concludes that Rimes' plan was to kill the orca all along. Phoenix says Rimes drained the show pool, and he mentions that Rimes did not feed the orca. All of the orca's fish was eaten by the penguin. Phoenix uses the penguin footprints on the wet paint, to prove the penguin was there at the time.
