Phil Hughes and His High Hatters is a pseudonym for a Harry Reser studio group although the vocalist, Tommy Stacks uses his real name.
Tommy Stacks was also a drummer with many of the Harry Reser recording groups but he also was a vocalist. He usually recorded using his real name with a style that is easily recognizable. His vocals can be found on many different labels and mostly the "dime store labels" such as Romeo, Harmony, Oriole and Domino with bands like the Six Jumping Jacks, Casino Dance Orchestra, Plantation Players and other novelty groups managed by Reser. At the same time his vocals were heard coast-to-coast with the famous Clicquot Club Eskimos radio program. In the 1930s he recorded with Freddy Martin, Eddy Duchin and Bob Causer.
