Phil Broadhurst’s composition 'Pukeko' is a nod to Jimmy Rowles 'The Peacocks' and is a reference to the pukeko that stalked the grounds around New Zealand School of Music at Massey University in Albany during the composer’s tenure there as Head of Jazz Studies.
Mike Booth is both the arranger of this chart, and a soloist (on flugelhorn), along with Anthony Hunt (piano). The Auckland Jazz Orchestra is directed by Tim Atkinson in this SOUNZ Film, captured at Te Ahurei Toi o Tāmaki Auckland Arts Festival.
