The wheke (octopus) is an intriguing creature; a master of disguise and nimble on its feet...tentacles.... We continue our journey through the ocean with Symposium Dectet with composer and flutist Tamara Smith's interpretation of her experience seeing what seemed to be a rock transform into a wheke while she was snorkelling. The flute takes a lead role in this mysterious and ever-changing work for jazz ensemble. Find the 🐙 on our YouTube channel.

Audio mixed by Alex van den Broek and engineered by Hunter Craig. Film funded by NZ On Air.
