The climate catastrophe will apparently have to happen in our own backyards in the Western industrialized nations for us to take heed. And ordinary people will have to be willing to change and demand the kinds of changes in government policy that might allow our children to inherit a livable world.
At present, however, we are heading towards a reckoning with Nature that civilization is unlikely to survive.
