One of the most destructive habits I see in people struggling with chronic illness isn't food.
It's people pleasing.
I've watched people eat foods that trigger pain, fatigue, inflammation, weight gain, autoimmune flares, and food addiction—not because they wanted to, but because they didn't want to disappoint someone else.
"I didn't want to be rude."
"It was a special occasion."
"My family wanted me to."
"My friends pressured me."
I've also seen people skip exercise, miss sleep, neglect self-care, and put everyone else's needs ahead of their own health.
The cost?
Their health.
Their energy.
Their future.
Here's the truth:
The people who genuinely love you do not need you to be sick to make them comfortable.
They don't need you to eat foods that harm you.
They don't need you to sacrifice your health to prove your love.
In fact, the people who truly care about you will be thrilled to see you thriving.
They will celebrate your healing.
They will support your goals.
They will be pleased to see you healthy.
If saying "no" to unhealthy habits disappoints someone, remember this:
You are not responsible for managing other people's feelings at the expense of your health.
Your first responsibility is to protect the body you have been given.
Watch this video and learn why people pleasing may be standing between you and the health you deserve—and how to break free.
