Thermo electric refrigeration uses a semiconductor based solid-state active heat pump. It works based on the principle of peltier effect. The thermoelectic module has a series of array of p-type and n-type semiconductor. The array of semiconductors are sandwiched between two copper plates. When a electric current is applied, then one side of the plate starts cooling and other side of the plate starts heating. This is due to pumping of heat from colder side to hotter side. Here we utilize the cooling effect of the thermoelectric module for refrigeration and cooling.
