Automatic street light control is used to save electrical energy in highway road side lights. Here infrared proximity sensors are used to detect any approaching vehicle movement. Once a vehicle is detected the corresponding lights nearby the vehicle are turned ON. When the vehicle passes by then again lights are turned OFF. Thus we can achieve a tremendous energy saving in electricity used for highway lighting.
