Peggy Lee’s instinct for creative control was not limited to musicianship. When her 1960 ‘Latin ala Lee’ album was coming together, she proposed a concept to the art department at Capitol Records.

The iconic photo of her flanked by a pair of bullfighters won the Grammy that year for Best Album Cover. Art Director Marvin Schwartz (who also happened to be responsible for the design of the actual statuette) accepted the award.
