These peacock wolf eels are celebrating 19 years at the Aquarium today! 🎉
These two have called the Olympic Coast home since December 27, 2006. While they may look like eels, they’re actually fish, with pectoral fins behind their heads to prove it.
These video was filmed during the warmer months, when wolf eels are most active. Right now, they’re in a natural state of hibernation, slowing down and staying hidden in rocky crevices for the winter. They won’t be making many appearances, but check back in spring to see these longtime residents out and about again!
