Fall is the perfect time to bob for apples—or in Tipper and Sierra's case, bob for Jell-O! 🍎🍂

To find the Jell-O, California sea lions rely on both their eyes and their vibrissae (whiskers)! These whiskers help them detect vibrations from fish and other objects (like Jell-O) in the water, enabling them to hunt in dark or murky conditions. At the Aquarium, we provide enrichment activities—like introducing a water bucket filled with snacks and toys—to encourage natural behaviors such as foraging, play, and exploration.

The animals in our care also have choices: Tipper and Sierra bobbed for jello, while Gio opted to watch!
