notes: Perryman asserts here that higher frequency can yield faster results than many current "American-style" programs. While this can be certainly true, it could be true in large part because increasing frequency will also increase volume. So frequency is acting as a proxy for the thing that really causes progressive overload--total volume. While I think there's something to this, its only a part of the picture. Perryman also talks about the relative intensity ranges here, and working up to daily maxes, something that Pezzuti has been doing for a little over two years now. Its that quality of the training program that I'm currently interested in--higher intensity at the sacrifice of per-session volume. We will be having a few of our athletes run approaches similar to what Perryman and many others have their athletes do. While this won't be conclusive, it will provide me some anecdotal evidence (hopefully) one way or the other. Stay tuned.
