What I tried to salvage the existing base and glass dome.
Commercial Electric Fixture sold by Home Depot seldom last much more than a year.
I decided to try 12VDC LED's available on eBay and powering them with a standard LED driver or a 12VDC power supply.
Several different arrangements, LED color and fixture arrangements were tested.
