The Romanesque Pieve di San Pietro is the main historical monument of Volpedo. Already mentioned in documents of the 10th century, it was remodeled in the 15th century: this renovation changed much of its original form, but increased its artistic interest by enriching it with valuable paintings. Inside there are frescoes attributed to the school of the Tortona artists Manfredino and Franceschino Boxilio (15th - early 16th century), a school also active at the Milan Cathedral.

![Castle Chiavenna Landi @ Cortemaggiore
The first news about the castle dates back to 1209 when the Registrum Magnum of the municipality of Piacenza reports that Gislerio Landi built a tower in the locality of Chiavenna, after having stipulated an agreement which provided that half of the tower would be ceded to the same municipality of Piacenza, which would use it as an outpost to prevent possible invasions by Cremonese troops. In 1212 the municipality of Piacenza granted some people the perpetual lease of large portions of land located in the appurtenances of the castle with the hidden aim of obtaining the reclamation of these lands by the beneficiaries. The complex, which is in a good state of conservation, has a rectangular structure and is made of brick. In addition to the original tower, the castle has been expanded over the centuries with the construction of some rustic buildings that have modified its initial appearance[1]. The tower is characterised by corbels placed in the upper part to support a patrol path, equipped with machicolations and Ghibelline battlements.
