The castle of Calendasco, is a fortification located in the Italian municipality of Calendasco, in the province of Piacenza. The building, built entirely of bricks, is substantially intact and in a good state of conservation, although in need of some restoration work, it shows all its grandeur as a defensive manor. The oldest part of the manor was built by will of the bishop count of Piacenza, of whom the territory of Calendasco was a fiefdom, as indicated by the architectural traces, around the year 1000, while the first citation is in a document of Pope Urban II dating back to 1187 in which the property rights of the monks of San Salvatore di Quartizzola on Calendasco were confirmed. The castle with the reception formed, together with the church and the pilgrims' hospital, the burgi Calendaschi.
