Pangasinan is under a state of calamity. This came after the province was hit by tropical storms and the enhanced southwest monsoon or “Habagat.” Local officials said relentless rains caused widespread flooding in low-lying areas of Pangasinan. They said the severe flooding damaged infrastructure, agriculture, private properties, and affected livelihoods. The declaration of a state of calamity will accelerate relief, recovery, and rehabilitation efforts. The DSWD said more than a million people in Pangasinan have been affected by the weather disturbances.
