Rains and floods caused by the combined effects of tropical storms and the southwest monsoon or Habagat have affected more than eight million people across the country. This is based on the latest figures from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. The death toll from the weather disturbances also rose to thirty-two. The fatalities came from Benguet, La Union, Rizal, Batangas, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Negros Occidental, and Caloocan. The causes of death include drowning, electrocution, and landslide.
