The southwest monsoon, or “Habagat,” will continue to bring rains to most of Luzon, including Metro Manila. Heavy to intense rains are expected in the Ilocos Region, most of the Cordillera, including Batanes, and most of Central Luzon. Tropical Depression Pilandok continues to enhance the southwest monsoon. It has maintained its strength as it continues to move over the Philippine Sea east of extreme Northern Luzon. Pilandok is expected to intensify and become a tropical storm tomorrow. It is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday afternoon or evening. This tropical cyclone is less likely to make landfall over the country and will remain far from the Philippine landmass. Another tropical depression located west-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes is also enhancing the southwest monsoon, along with former Severe Tropical Storm Obet.
