I like operating radio outdoors, very much! I do it as often as I can. But more often I go, more tiresome I feel of all this packing-unpacking business. Each time I go I have to put into my back-pack or just any suitable box my transceiver and its microphone, my antenna tuner, my battery pack, my battery booster, my digital sound card interface, my CW key-paddle, my logging computer, my computer for digital modes and CAT control, no less than ten various cable assemblies, connectors, signal and power supply cords, digital multimeter, some tools, also my antenna , my portable mast, my folding table and a folding chair. Anything else? Oh yes, coffee and sandwiches! Some of these things would be most likely forgotten in a hurry! When I come to place of operation I have to unpack everything and make necessary connections, test how it works, etc. It might take up to an hour. When I finish my activation I have to pack it all up again. It might take less than an hour. So almost two hours are lost during each trip for just technical packing routines. So, I thought: I need a Go-Box! A real go-box, not just any box suitable for travel and chaotically loaded with various bits of equipment. By real go-box I mean a box which you can carry with you, by hand or on a suitable trolley and which is ready for operation in minutes after you arrive in place. It means everything what's inside the box must be connected in between and the only thing I need before getting on the air is to switch the power on, connect the antenna and the key-paddle. Is that luxury possible at all? Very much so! People do it very successfully for many years, especially those in emergency communication services. While making my own Go-Box I've red and watched lots of videos and descriptions on the FB Go-box group, YT and various websites. This is Part I of my video.
