Cool map, really neat visuals with the torches at the start, and fun little combat setpieces. The platforming is a bit more setup-driven than I typically prefer (I like fast-paced jumps or timed stuff more), but it's alright anyway. Progression is adequately cooked for a map made for me, not too surprising that this map was often half-skipped or took people ages to get thru. :^) Really nice touch with the 50 Shades reference secret too. :D
The progression here is different from intended because the cheese I had found was never patched, but that's good, otherwise it would be far more cooked. The main places cheesed:
- The BK and RK secret progression is meant to be done with AVJ, but I just strafejump and glide respectively, saving me some health.
- The secret platforming is intended to be done with the manc shooting at you, but jumping left sidesteps that easily; that's why when I shoot in that area, the platforms go down. It wouldn't be too bad, since you can redo, but this way is much calmer that's for sure, heh. The last platform jump is the trickiest, the rest aren't that bad.
- The mega secret is meant to be AVJed to; I press the exit lift from the other side, but you can also RJ to it.
The only real challenge combat piece is the AV/manc/hell noble fight; IMO it is a bit overcooked because it can be really hard to get the vile dead there, and I always lose quite a bit of health trying to make it there. Managed to survive barely here, and the viles after were a bit annoying, but manageable. That part, the start (annoying with all the hitscan and vile fight), and the precise platforming are why I'm just gonna post this first exit here, feels right to run a map made for me, but def not gonna mud on it. :D Main ugly time loss here I think is falling off the BK jump because I had the setup one angle off, and the glide being done in the wrong spot at first, but I'm ok with that, heh, everything else is first try. Jumps around the RK are also awkward, so happy I didn't fall there, that's a much bigger time loss. 40 attempts total.
