I've been really wanting to release more of these closer to the game's release but unfortunately I've just been so overwhelmed with other projects. For YouTube I have two extremely huge projects I've been working on forever that I both work on every day alongside all the live shows I've done this year and a bunch of other really fun things I can't announce yet. Thanks everyone for being patient. I'm not dead yet.

Overthinker was the first original song released by me for Rift and the reactions were very funny. People didn't believe it was even me based on the intro until the big hit, and it was nice to feel like I could pass as more than just the metal guy, especially for a game's soundtrack that wanted me to go outside of my comfort zone.

Overthinker represents the two things that affect our thoughts, logic and emotion. The logical parts are represented by blue, it's those moments of feeling like you're processing things with logic and everything is binary and easy to parse through. Emotion can come through and hit all logic with a hammer though and that's represented here by red. Ideally the two come together in the pre-chorus and chorus as purple, the combining of red and blue. In my own struggles with getting out of my own head and not overthinking, a key part has been learning to integrate and create space for both sides and that struggle was represented in the composition of this song.

However that's just my own interpretation of the song, I hope you find your own parallels!

I travelled to LA to film this one with my buddy Kris who filmed the last one. I took my own stab at editing this, and sure enough it ended up feeling close to my usual style of videos. We actually did a ton of fun things but at the editing stage, I ultimately couldn't make the other shots work and it didn't feel like it was well thought out or cohesive so I opted for my classic style. For any future music videos we do, I'm hoping to go much more fun with the music video concepts. Look out for that!

Again, thanks so much for your patience. I've spent the better part of the 2010s releasing weekly and it's defintely tough to reel that back, but I hope you guys stick around regardless. See you next time!
