The 2020 Covid pause may have cost Ovi some goals, but it gave him the opportunity to do something rare - score a goal in every calendar month. The NHL's bubble playoffs were scheduled to take place in August and September, and an exhibition game in July gave Ovechkin the opportunity to score in all 12 months. Sure enough, he scored twice in the only July game he ever played in. With another two-goal night in Game 2 against the Islanders, he secured his first August goal to complete the rare feat.
Based on my crude research, Ovechkin became the 10th player to join the club, a club that is 18 members full as of the posting of this video.
