The arcade Chihiro Beta version of Outrun 2 running on CxbxReloaded (CI-8fcc2f5 - this isn't the most recent version, I actually recorded this awhile back) the original Xbox emulator that can also run a handful of Chihiro arcade games. My driving's a bit twitchy here, owing to the fact that the game was designed to be used with a steering wheel and I'm using a joypad. I don't think anything's really changed here compared to my last OR2 Chihiro upload, but it'd been awhile since I'd last checked out CxbxR, so I thought I might as well do an upload of it.
An interesting thing about being able to play the actual Chihiro game, is the fact the Ferrari Testarossa (the original 1986 Outrun car) had a very different look in this version of the game compared to all the subsequent home ports and sequels. Apparently it was re-designed in the later games to appear more like the version from the 1986 super-scaler original, which has been the case from Outrun 2 on the Xbox and beyond. The only other place this original Chihiro Testrossa design featured was in the Xbox demo of Outrun 2, but only as a rival car (thanks once again to fellow Outrun 2 superfan Noobsaibot21 for making me aware of this in the first place). Oddly, this version of the Testarossa was the one that featured on the back of the Xbox OR2 box. You can see it here on the back of my very own PAL copy of OR2: https://sta.sh/019w09shrhva
Although you can play a pretty perfect, with added content and gameplay, version of Outrun 2 SPDX in Teknoparrot, I'm always interested in keeping an eye on how things are developing with the original arcade Chihiro version, mainly because of this unique Ferrari Testarossa, that was different in its design to how it’s subsequently appeared in all the other arcade and home versions of Outrun 2 since then. There are also a few billboards that look a bit different in the opening stage too.
