How expensive is Mexico? Here are our average grocery and restaurant costs in Guanajuato where we’re living for the next 5 weeks. I find the grocery costs in Guanajuato, Mexico to be very reasonable, and similar to the prices we find in Guadalajara. The best way to see Guanajuato is on foot, in fact, much of the city is inaccessible by car. Many of the neighborhoods are a warren of narrow alleyways that make shopping fun and challenging. Guanajuato is one of the most culturally diverse cities we’ve visited in Mexico, and international dining options are plentiful.
