When we picked up this Jeep from Facebook Marketplace place we knew it had a history of cooling system issues and all the classic telltale signs of a blown head gasket
In the name of buying ourselves a little time before we had to actually tear it apart and fix the issue, we tried using a bottle of Blue Devil Head Gasket Sealer
While this has worked for us in the past, this time around we only got three days of use from the truck before the problems began acting up again
So, in the name of science, we tore the engine apart looking for not only what caused the leak in the first place, but why the Sodium Silicate in Blue Devil failed to hold for even a short time.
We we found was the answers we went looking for along with a couple of things that really surprised us.
