A cover of Otherworld, from the video game Final Fantasy X.
As I have finally finished FFX, I figured I should definitely cover a song or two from this game!
It was definitely interesting hearing a straight up metal song for the final boss, but it grooves hard I couldn't resist covering it!
In order to make for a more interesting cover that stands apart a bit more, I decided to do this one in Drop A (the original is in Drop C#) for a different sounds a slightly heavier edge. I also decided to add some strings for a more symphonic sound, taking some slight inspiration from Epica here!
Instrumentally, the song was a fairly easy song, so I attempted drums at this one, though I used a bit of programming magic for some of the fills, but everything else is me! I tried to add my own style mixed with the original for the guitar solo, which I think came out nicely, most using pentatonic licks.
Overall, I think this cover turned out quite nicely! Heavy and aggressive while style clear, and hopefully you all enjoy it as much as I did making it!
