Oscar Winner Kevin Costner discusses his new Western film series 'Horizon: An American Saga'
Oscar-winning On Tuesday, Kevin Costner traveled to Philadelphia to discuss his monumental four-part American Western film series.
'Horizon: An American Saga's' first chapter will be released later this month. Costner claims that ever since he was a young child, the West has captivated him.
"I wanted to climb real trees and jump on real horses," adds Costner. "I didn't like phony Westerns."
He then decided to create genuine ones.
A four-part Western drama series set after the Civil War is titled "Horizon: An American Saga."
Costner's enthusiasm for precision and detail is palpable.
"It's the horses, the guns, the way the men look," he continues. "It was significant to me as nothing would be deceiving you otherwise. "I didn't know this movie was coming, but it feels like it's meant for me," people think as they watch in the dark."
Costner's dedication to these four films is a labor of love that has taken 30 years to complete.
"This is the kind of movie that I wanted somebody to make for me," he stated.
He's presently filming part three, and the first two chapters will be released this summer.
He was actually on a plane to Utah the morning after his stop in Philadelphia, when he returned to the site to continue working.
In addition to playing the lead role in the narrative, Costner also serves as the film's producer, director, co-writer, and financier.
"Well, it wouldn't have gotten made had I not chose to wear all those hats," he replies. It's a tale that made me feel as though I was hiding something. I feel like I've taken an authentic cinematic adventure. For me, this is a really honest time.
On June 28th, "Horizon: An American Saga" will open in theaters. The second movie is released in August.
