This Swirly Octagon Flicker was designed and shown to me by member Jack during the August 2023 Eastern Hemisphere Members Livestream. It's such a basic form that I'm pretty sure it has been independently discovered by origami artists in the past, such as Tomoko Fuse who specializes in these kinds of twist folds. It's so familiar, I might have even done it myself! While teaching it to me during the livestream, Jack had some difficulty conveying how to complete the last step, so on the spot, I figured out a much easier, cleaner way of finishing the model. My way of finishing it has probably also been done by some artist in the past, but I've looked online and could not find either Jack's model nor my closure. If anyone knows who originally discovered this form, please let me know and I will at least credit them with prior independent discovery.
