The Orbynexa PM166S Portable Power Mount combines a 166.5Wh battery, collapsible tripod and dedicated 30V DC output into one compact power system for Starlink Mini.
In this real-world field test, I deploy the PM166S from my ATV, mount and align the Starlink Mini, charge the power mount from a PowerFilm solar panel and test its internet connection under actual off-grid conditions.
The PM166S addresses several problems encountered when operating Starlink Mini in the field. It elevates the terminal above the ground, provides a stable mounting platform, powers it through a dedicated 30V DC connection and eliminates much of the power-bank and cable clutter associated with portable deployments.
The mount works with the pipe adapter supplied with Starlink Mini. Its tripod legs deploy with a single button, and the mounted terminal can swivel for alignment without moving the entire system.
ORBYNEXA PM166S SPECIFICATIONS
• 166.5Wh battery capacity
• Dedicated 30V/2A DC output for Starlink Mini
• Bidirectional USB-C Power Delivery port
• 65W USB-C fast charging
• USB-C PD 3.0 and QC4 support
• 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/3A, 15V/3A and 20V/3.25A profiles
• Simultaneous solar charging and Starlink operation
• Integrated collapsible tripod
• Compact mesh storage sleeve
The USB-C port can charge the PM166S or power another compatible device. The dedicated 30V DC connection powers Starlink Mini while the USB-C input replenishes the mount from a compatible solar charging system.
This is an independent field test rather than a tabletop demonstration. I also cover an important weakness: the battery and charging indicator is extremely difficult to see in daylight. Operators working outdoors should be aware of that limitation.
The PM166S is designed for portable internet, emergency communications, camping, overlanding, hiking, ATV and snowmobile deployments where reducing equipment weight, cable clutter and setup time matters.
