Honestly, the Hammer Oni weapon is just super OP on any boss that has a window to charge it up! I have it upgraded as far as I can at this point in the game, and it eats half their stamina already!
For Benkei, you can't deal damage til you break his armor, and the fastest way is breaking him for a crit. When you do, hut the central purple node, at least til the end of phase 2. You can refill the Oni power quickly that way.
I'm usin two charms (unlock second slot in skills), one for blaze gage filling faster, one for blaze damage. And hammer Oni skill is upgraded in the tree as well. With all that, he goes down much easier!
