✨ One Month Old Sleep ✨
Your sweet baby is officially one month old—can you believe it? 🥹 This stage is such a mix of snuggles, learning each other, and… yes, a lot of sleepless nights. But here’s the thing: what you’re experiencing is completely normal.
At one month old, your baby’s sleep patterns are still very unpredictable. Their tiny bodies are adjusting to life outside the womb, and their circadian rhythms (internal clocks) haven’t fully developed yet. That’s why days and nights can feel flipped upside down.
💤 Here’s what to expect with one-month-old sleep:
• Total sleep needs: About 14–17 hours in a 24-hour period.
• Nap length: Naps are often short and scattered, usually lasting 30–90 minutes.
• Wake windows: Only about 45–60 minutes—yes, that includes feeding, diaper changes, and cuddles!
• Nighttime sleep: Still very broken, with wake-ups every 2–4 hours for feeding.
🌙 A few things to keep in mind:
• Your baby’s sleep cycles are still very short, so frequent wake-ups are expected.
• Safe sleep is the priority—always place baby on their back, in their own sleep space.
• Routines don’t need to be strict yet, but gentle patterns (like dimming the lights at night, offering a feed, swaddle, and a calm environment) can begin to set the stage for healthy sleep habits.
If you’re in the thick of the newborn fog, please know: this is temporary. Babies grow and change so quickly, and with time, sleep starts to stretch out and become more predictable. You are doing an incredible job—even if you’re running on coffee and dry shampoo. 💕
