Houston police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another critically injured late on July 29, 2026, in the 4900 block of Laura Koppe Road. Officers responded around 10 p.m. and found a 20-year-old man dead at the scene, while a 50-year-old man was shot in the face while inside a vehicle. The injured victim was driven to a hospital by a friend and remains in critical condition. Investigators believe the victims were at the location to play dominoes and do not currently think they were involved in the shooting. Police said no weapons were found on the deceased victim, and evidence at the scene included numerous pistol shell casings but no rifle casings. Authorities are still working to determine how many suspects were involved, though they believe there may have been two shooters. Detectives noted that large groups regularly gather at the location, but so far have found few reliable witnesses.
