Should we have the right to mock religion? Can the actions of those who defile the Koran possibly be justified? And if they are not justified, can they at least be understood?
In this part I try to explain why CapnOAwesome and Fakesagan might feel justified in their defiling the Koran. Some will argue that Sharia law, implemented wisely and justly, could usher in a utopia. However, as we have seen in nations like Iran and Saudi Arabia, rulers in Islamic countries are not always just and wise and Sharia law could form the basis for a distopia. I suspect that CapnOAwesome and Fakesagan are defiling the Koran in celebration that we still have the right to mock religion and that we haven't yet lost our freedoms to such a distopia. It is also their signal of defiance to those who would jeopardize our freedoms by implementing Sharia.
