In October 1969, Oliver appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show and at the end of the performance, Ed introduced Oliver's (Bill Swofford's) younger brother Johnny Swofford, who was seated in the audience. Johnny was recognized because of his outstanding win over Vanderbilt the previous weekend - and giving UNC the championship.
