This Old-Fashioned Cranberry Salad is a sweet-tart holiday classic that’s been showing up on Southern and Appalachian tables for generations. Made with crushed pineapple, cherry Jell-O, cranberries, fresh fruit, celery, and crunchy nuts, it’s the perfect balance of refreshing, creamy, and festive.
Whether you serve it for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, or a Sunday dinner, this cranberry salad is easy to make ahead and always gets folks asking for the recipe.
🥄 Ingredients:
1 large can crushed pineapple (undrained)
1 (6 oz) package cherry Jell-O
2 cans whole berry cranberry sauce
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped red apples
1 cup red grapes, halved
1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Instructions
In a large heatproof bowl, pour the crushed pineapple with its juice.
Sprinkle the cherry Jell-O powder over the pineapple and stir until fully dissolved.
Add the cranberry sauce and mix until smooth and evenly combined.
Fold in the chopped celery, apples, grapes, and nuts.
Pour the mixture into a serving bowl or dish.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until fully set.
Serve chilled.
