A man named 'Oh Dae Su' is held in a cell which resembles a hotel room, for 15 years. He doesn't know why or who has done this to him.
Upon his release, he is asked to answer two questions:
1) Who is his jailer?
2) What did he do to earn his imprisonment?
If Oh Dae Su answers correctly & within the time limit, his daughter will be released from captivity & the jailer will confess to the horrific murder of his wife. Then his captor promises he will kill himself, leaving Oh Dae Su and his daughter free.

Please watch the Korean film first. The American one is alright, but nothing hits as hard as the original.
