The 54-year old Old Oak bridge over the N1 at Brackenfell (Cape Town) needed to be demolished because of two reasons. Some of its pillars were in the way for adding another lane to the N1. Secondly, it was much lower than its counterpart and already showed several hits by trucks. The demolition was planned for the weekend of 12-15 May 2017. It was finished 1.5 days early because no damage to the road surface occurred.
The Cape Town Freeway Management (www.i-traffic.co.za) installed a temporary CCTV camera to monitor the demolition
from which this timelapse was compiled. Just a pity they fiddled so much with the camera, changing views all the time - I tried to clean it up as much as possible in this video.
