Old Christmas Morning -- A poem by Roy Helton.

About the poem - This is a conversational poem between a woman who is waiting for her husband to return from hunting, and her estranged friend who is visiting. The poem starts with a casual chit-chat, further develops curiosity and ends on a shocking note. January 6 is called old Christmas, which according to old folks is the real Christmas. According to certain myths a lot of strange things like spirits walking around the hills, is said to happen on this day.

About the poet - Roy Helton was an American poet, novelist, educator and public servant. He also used to teach at Friends Central School and work for the Pennsylvania State Planning Commission. His other famous works include Lonesome Water, In Passing, Come Back To Earth, Nitchey Tilley, etc.
