About the poem - The mahogany tree is a poem placed around the time of Christmas. The poet reminisces their holidays spent happily under the huge mahogany tree that is not just a tree with a huge shade but also a house full of his best Christmas memories.
About the poet - William Makepeace Thackeray (18 July 1811 -- 24 December 1863)) born in Calcutta India was a satirist and parodist most famous for his classic novel 'Vanity Fair' and it's engagingly roguish character Becky Sharp. During the Victorian era Thackeray was ranked second only to Charles Dickens (Author of Oliver Twist, Tale Of Two Cities, Christmas Carol etc)
