Six years ago, Officer Jimmie Collins was picking up lunch during an off-duty shift when he heard loud bangs. He turned and saw a hooded man with a pistol in his hand, running in the parking lot and jumping into a getaway car. Officer Collins didn’t hesitate to get into his patrol car and chase the suspect, eventually stopping the vehicle.
Officer Collins didn’t expect to find known gang member Hakeem Robinson, a.k.a Ksoo, in the car. Robinson is now facing a life sentence after he was convicted of murder last year.
These days, Officer Collins spends his days at the Academy, teaching the next generation of our Police and Corrections recruits.
