Between 1930 and 1977 conductors on the New York City Subway would work the door controls standing between cars as the trains enter and left stations. This sequence was captured on board the 2024 Holiday Nostalgia train and shows the conductor upon departure from 96th St station (on the 2nd Ave Subway) and crossover to the opposite track, the train traveling between stations on the 6th Ave Line, and finally arrival at 57th St where the conductor has to take their position between the cars to reach the door controls.
