When you feel comfortable picking out melodies and double-stops, then it's time to get some hot licks in there - or at least starting out medium warm in this case. It's a kind of "stock" lick to take you from the 5 chord back to the 1 chord at the end of a progression, in this case good old Blue Ridge Cabin Home. It's got a big section of the 2 octave major A scale, so it's a nice place to parlay those skills into the flow. We also check it out in G and on the guitar too for cross-training.
